Wired 4 Games

Mondrian provoked

Are you ready for Townsville’s Wired 4 Games exhibition for 2009? The exhibition explores the discussion occurring in the gaming community regarding the role, function, and classification of computer games as an art form.

Drawing together specific games from across the world Wired 4 Games explores the evolution from games for entertainment, to games that produce artworks or are viewed as artworks themselves.

This exhibition presents an insight into the creative process of game development. Rarely-seen games are brought together in a showcase of game genre like no other.


Vernacular Terrain 2: Films

21 March to 3 May

Vernacular Terrain

An international digital art project focusing on contemporary artists exploring cultural identities and new technologies. The exhibition is a series of short films by acclaimed Chinese artists and prominent Australian Indigenous artists.

This is the second exhibition produced by the International Digital Art project and curated by QUT. The first exhibition in 2008 featured predominately photography from Asian artists.

This year the work of contemporary Australian Indigenous artist adds an element of added interest for Australian audiences as the artists explore social and personal issues related to their identity.

Pinnacles is proud to host this outstanding new media exhibition.


Crossings

9 May - 14 June 2009

 Vince BrayAn installation of sculpture and multimedia work inspired by the Ross River in Townsville.The exhibition is collaboration between local artists celebrating the growth and change of the city and its surrounds. Combining differing and comparable perspectives the artists create a greater consciousness of the river and water as a vital part of the city's existence. Lighting, digital imagery, film, sound and movement allow the artists to convey their intentions and push their own creative boundaries.

Depth Of Field… Viva la Murri! Viva la foto!

Harry…the fruits of our labour, the sharing spirit and insider perspective imparted in the 'Depth of Field' exhibition will go a long way towards the FUBU Philosophy: For Us By Us... and beyond.

Depth of Field is a photographic exhibition by eight emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth exploring ever adapting themes, issues and social events that define what it means to be a young indigenous person in North Queensland.

To complement the local component in the Depth of Field exhibition Big Eye Aboriginal Animations from Australia and Canada will also be screening as part of the show. Big Eye is curated by Jenny Fraser and Rennae Hopkins. It explores a unique cross-tribal exchange of ideas and world views through various animation
