Intangible Streamings by Katelyn Aslett

8 November to 7 December

Felting 2

Intangible Streamings explores what it is to sustain a practise of art making that is about a relationship with the ‘now moment’ of creating, using an ancient textile process- the moment where conscious and imagination, passion and connectedness all are streaming uninterrupted. Through Intangible Streamings Katelyn Aslett aims to share both that moment and the results of seeking it.

Interwoven through Intangible Streamings, a virtual experience of Aslett’s studio, a series of “mappings” of internal and external worlds streaming into represented form, installations of public “mappings”, and the story of the strategic development of her niche business, converge to create an insight into the often conflicting motivations and realities of an artist’s development of a sustainable career path on their terms.

A Pinnacles Gallery project.

Bon-Bon Voyage by Ayelet Anush

26 July to 24 August

Bon Bon Voyage

Bon-Bon Voyage is an edible installation inspired by the foreign beauty and warm caramel scent of the North Queensland cane fields experienced by Melbourne-based artist Ayelet Anush. Exploring notions of longing and belonging, this exhibition works with the least obedient senses, smell and taste- senses with the power to kidnap us without asking for permission, to take us to times and places we might have otherwise lost.

While usually practicing in seemingly cold materials like glass and stainless steel, even with them Anush tries to stay close to the body, where there are no excuses or theories, where she knows with certainty if she is holding something back. In Bon-Bon Voyage Anush creates a space that invites audiences to move slowly and sample her homemade sweet installations, as fragments of memories stirred only by taste and smell surface, summonsing a host of long forgotten journeys.
