Wired 4 Games
7 February to March 15

Are you ready for Townsville’s Wired 4 Games exhibition for 2009? The exhibition explores the discussion occurring in the gaming community regarding the role, function, and classification of computer games as an art form.
Drawing together specific games from across the world, Wired 4 Games explores the evolution from games for entertainment, to games that produce artworks or are viewed as artworks themselves.
This exhibition presents an insight into the creative process of game development. Rarely-seen games are brought together in a showcase of game genre like no other.
Collectors - The Collectors' Collections
13 December 2008 to 1 February 2009

Collectors will provide an insight into the unusual world of contemporary artist’s collections. It will probe into what drives an artist to pursue a collection of unusual or seemingly ordinary objects, it will also explore what fuels their passion and the challenges they face in pursuing the collection and creating work inspired by their collection.
Collectors will confront the stereotype of what it is to be an avid collector and examine the nuances of difference between seemingly similar objects, that drive artists to seek incredible levels of multiplicity. It will answer questions such as when does a collector stop hunting, and how artists create work from their collection? How do they display their work and who gets to view it?
Collectors will let you in to the often secretive world and passions of the artist/collector who uses their collection as a source of inspiration for the production of artworks.
The exhibition will feature collections from the community that have been photographed by their owners. Everything from bottles, records, postcards, figurines to vintage posters and other unique objects.
There is something for everyone in the wonderful world of Collectors.
