Riverway Lagoons
The Riverway Lagoons cover an area in size of more than three Olympic swimming pools. The lagoons are nestled among shady raintrees, with the picturesque Ross River providing a peaceful backdrop. Water cascades connect the two distinct lagoon areas, which vary in depth up to 2m. A feature of the lagoon is its invisible edge, so the lagoon appears to extend into the river. The surrounding well established raintrees, together with the extensive overhangs of the Riverway Arts Centre roof and additional shade structures, provide a protected year-round safe swimming environment.
The upper lagoon is designed for more formal uses, including an area for swimming laps and specific areas for disabled and elderly access, with hand rails and suitable water levels.
If you are looking for a little fun and relaxtion, then the lower lagoon is the place to be with its less formal feel. The lagoon has a softer shape, and is surrounded by timber decks, rockery and a sandy beach. It is an ideal place for the kids build sand castles and play in shallow water while the rest of the family can lounge on the timber decks in the shade.
Unlike coastal beaches there are no waves or stingers to bother you and you can feel comfortable knowing that the lagoons are patrolled by professional lifeguards seven days a week, 365 days a year.
